Welcome

Peter Meechan Music was set up in 2006, in order to publish some of the increasingly large output of the music of British composer Peter Meechan.

The catalogue contains extended works, test pieces, concerti, as well as smaller concert items and solo works.

To make it easier to find your way around the expanding catalogue, please use the menu on the left hand side to go to you required category: - works for wind (wind band), works for brass (brass band) and ensemble (brass quartets, etc.). For all other items, such as CD or piano accompaniments, select 'Other Works'. To locate a solo, select the category of the accompaniment - e.g. Works for Brass if it is a euphonium solo with brass band. Each category is listed in alphabetical order, and each work in the wind and brass band sections has been giving a grading. See below for more details.

Each item now has a media page, featuring a sound clip, sample scores, and downloadable programme notes.

Latest releases and news

Brass band:Sentinel is the new work for the National Youth Brass Band Championships 2011. It will be available from this site in September 2010
Brass band:Epitaph (for Hillsborough) has been scored for brass band, and has recieved performances by Brass Band Willebroek and at Cardiff New Brass Festival.
Brass band:Triptych (on a theme by Handel) is a new solo for tenor horn and brass band. It was written for Lesley Howie, and premiered by her with the Wingates Brass Band at the Bridgwater Hall, Spring 2010.
Ensemble:Storm, a trombone feature for brass quintet, has been released. This work was commissioned by Jonathan Pippen and the Wormshead Brass Quintet, and has received performances to critical acclaim across the UK.
Chamber:These Mist Covered Mountains for solo alto, or soprano, saxophone now has a piano accompaniment making the short work suitable for recitals.
Chamber:Triptych (on a theme by Handel) has also been released with piano accompaniment, as well as the brass band accompaniment.

Grading system

All works for wind and brass band have now been graded using the following scale:

Grading: 1 = very easy  2 = easy  3 = moderately easy  4 = moderately difficult  5 = difficult  6 = very difficult
