Welcome

Peter Meechan Music was set up in 2006, in order to publish some of the increasingly large output of the music of Peter Meechan.

In its first year, Peter Meechan Music now has expanded it's catalogue to include test pieces, solos, and concert works covering all levels and standards of performance ability.

To make it easier to find your way around the expanding catalogue, the navigation / menu system on this site has changed. There are now different categories of works in the menu on the left hand side. Use the relevant link to browse each area of the site - works for wind (wind band), works for brass (brass band) and ensemble (brass quartets, etc.). For all other items, such as CD or piano accompaniments, select 'Other Works'. To locate a solo, select the category of the accompaniment - e.g. Works for Brass if it is a euphonium solo with brass band.

Each category is listed in alphabetical order, and each work in the wind and brass band sections has been giving a grading. See below for more details.

For all of the other menu items, such as Frequently Asked Questions and Order Information, please use the menu bar above.

New releases for June 08

New releases include Autumn Falling, Lament (from Macbeth), Fanfare for a Festival and Macbeth - all for wind band; B of the Bang, Match Day, The Irish Washerwoman (Tenor horn feature), Lament (from Macbeth) - all for brass band; as well as Manchester Sketches (for brass quartet) - a commission from the Swiss National Committee for the 2008 National Quartet Competition.

New grading system

All works for wind and brass band have now been graded using the following scale:

Grading: 1 = very easy  2 = easy  3 = moderately easy  4 = moderately difficult  5 = difficult  6 = very difficult

Macbeth now available!

Commissioned by the Scottish Brass Band Association for the 2007 Scottish Open Championship, Macbeth takes its inspiration from the Shakespeare play of the same name. Following its highly successful debut at the Perth concert hall in November, the work is now on general release and available to all bands.
